NCBP February 2018 Vancouver Meeting - What You Need To Know!

The 2018 NCBP Midyear Meeting is in Vancouver, British Columbia - and it's the place to be February 1-3, 2018!

First, let’s talk weather.  Canada in winter sounds daunting.  The relatively good news is average temperatures range from 30s to 40s Fahrenheit.   But skies are generally cloudy, with an average of five plus inches of rain in February.  It does not typically snow in the city – that’s reserved for ski areas.

Indoor places to enjoy include the Museum of Anthropology and the Vancouver Art Gallery, which both include an emphasis on the indigenous peoples.  The Bill Reid Gallery is closed for renovations, but an option for the nautically inclined is the Vancouver Maritime Museum.

For those ready to venture outdoors, Vancouver offers biking and walking Tours - including Stanley Park – with the impressive (natural) Vancouver Seawall.

Shopping includes Robson Street and downtown.  Further south are Granville Island and South Granville.  The largest shopping center is Metropolis at Metrotown, 15 minutes by SkyTrain.  For the more adventurous, the SkyTrain runs from the airport as well.

For those who have the time (and while not far in Canadian distances, the travel is time consuming), Victoria is worth exploring.  Victoria is home to the stunning Capitol building of British Columbia.  Butchart Gardens offers beautiful settings, about a thirty minute drive outside Victoria.

The Vancouver area has plenty of snow skiing and boarding venues, including some used in the 2010 Winter Olympics, like Whistler Blackcomb Resort and Cypress Mountain.  Just search Vancouver skiing.

No matter how you look at it, Vancouver is the place to be this February! So register now for the 2018 NCBP Midyear Meeting and be sure to take in some of the beautiful sights and fun activities Vancouver has to offer while you're there!
