Elizabeth Van Doren Gray Receives Fellows Award Honor

Elizabeth (Betsy) Van Doren Gray received the NCBP 2016 Fellows Award at the NCBP Midyear Meeting on February 4, in San Diego, California. Elizabeth has upheld a long and distinguished career filled with outstanding achievements that have marked her as a leader and role model in the legal profession community. She has devoted countless hours in service to the legal profession, becoming only the second woman to serve as president of the South Carolina Bar in 2000; has served on numerous commissions and committees dedicated to improving the legal profession; been a member of the Chief Justice's Commission on the Profession since its inception; and chaired the first Judicial Qualifications Committee. We congratulate her on this prestigious honor.

Diversity Committee Provides Warm Welcome at Annual and Midyear Meetings

The National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP) began holding a Diversity Reception at the Annual and Midyear meetings in order to provide a warm welcome to diverse bar leaders to meet before the NCBP meeting kicks off. The most recent of these receptions took place at the NCBP Midyear Meeting in San Diego, CA, on February 4, 2016. The event was underwritten through the generosity of Wilson Elser.

Diversity Committee Chair Aurora Austriaco and John Clifford (Wilson Elser Partner-San Diego) welcomed the more than 50 attendees to the event, which included leaders of the NCBP, past, present, and incoming bar presidents from a variety of bar associations across the country. Attendees introduces themselves, learned more about each other and the bar associations they represented, as well as the services and opportunities provided by NCBP. NCBP's next gathering will take place at the 2016 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. In addition, the NCBP Diversity Committee has established scholarships...
