Getting to Know NCBP President Lanny Lambert

On Saturday, August 1, 2015, the NCBP gavel was passed to Lanneau W. (Lanny) Lambert. For this issue of NCBP News we sat down with Lanny, a shareholder with Turner Padget and a former president of the South Carolina Bar, to ask him a few questions to get to know our 2015-2016 leader better.

Q: Why did you want to become a lawyer?

A: Giving back to the profession and serving the public. The byproduct of association work is building wonderful relationships with some of the best lawyers in the profession and it has created opportunities to have a referral network all over the country. To paraphrase Winston Churchill: you make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give...

The purpose of this effort was to develop creative ways to facilitate volunteerism within the Champaign-Urbana community in a host of worthwhile organizations. It was a great experience, and excellent training for me as I later became a bar leader tasked with involving and empowering thousands of lawyers...
